Car Wax Vs. The dust Monster!!

Today was day 2 of Anna's 14 day challenge http://www.askannamoseley.com/ The challenge was to dust every flat surface of your home. To make the dusting a little easier she suggested we use car wax to polish with. Never done it before, but figured I would give it a try. I was quite surprised! I have mostly black and cherry wood items in the home and it left them all shining better than pledge. It leaves almost like a coating so dust doesn't really stick. Which is great because running a wood furnace here in our home it seems like I dust one day, and the very next day it's back just as bad as ever. Not fun when everyone in the house has asthma as well :( Anyhow, I decided to try it on glossy things like my bathroom vanity, tub enclosure and the washer and dryer. Left a beautiful shine on them all. I got a little carried away and did the stove and range hood. It made my 6 year old appliances look brand new again. I will be doing this from now on. If you struggle with a lot of dust in your home, maybe give it a try :)

Just a cloth and some car wax is all you need

Just a small amount of wax on your cloth

  1. I never would have thought to put it on the range hood! Mine is black and every speck of dust shows on it. Thanks for the tip.

  2. Great job! Waxing your appliances is a great idea, I'll have to do that. :)

  3. So cool! I have to try this on our coffee table. I hate the darn thing. Adam's feet are constantly on it, and he walks on the basement floor/outside on the patio with his socks on. All that dirt ends up on my coffee table. GRR!
